A note from Tom Gilbert

Hi Friends,

Tom Gilbert, farmer and former Highfields director

If you're psyched about sustainable communities, I am hoping you will consider doing what I just did.

As a grower interested in using food scraps to feed hens in a sustainable way, I have been lucky to have the partnership of Highfields in developing local composting programs.  New programming is often completely free of charge because Highfields raises the funds to make buckets and other materials available to me, and you, free of charge.  I am thrilled to be working in our local composting program, and if you're psyched about sustainable communities, I am hoping you will consider doing what I just did.

I just jumped on the Highfields website and took part in their Giving Tuesday campaign and made a donation in less than 2 min.  The Highfields crew continues to do great work canvassing the state and developing robust community composting programs and vigorously pursuing a campaign to make Vermont the first state in the country to achieve 100% statewide composting.  Huge gains on the ground in communities and in the legislature over the last several years have positioned Highfields for success, but they can't do it without your support.  Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving and while you can donate to Highfields any day, today is the day that counts most - they have a donor offering a challenge to the rest of us to get involved.  So, let's help them nail this and focus on building regenerative food systems in Vermont and beyond!

Thanks for everything you do,

Tom Gilbert
